Manpower Group Engineering Technician in Salem, New Hampshire

To provide technical assistance to engineers and senior technicians in the laboratory by performing routine laboratory experiments, operating machining and manufacturing equipment, testing samples and products, and collecting test data. To document and maintain records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prepares & operates laboratory & manufacturing equipment for prototyping and testing. Equipment may include all common machine shop, and fabrication tools and equipment, plus semi-automated composite manufacturing equipment. Supports technical staff with product development by performing routine tests to determine specific characteristics of experimental materials, or existing product modifications.

  2. Assembles for documentation the total process used in testing. Records test results in laboratory technical notebooks or on electronic equipment programs. Communicates results and information to the appropriate requester.

  3. Assists in factory experiments by collecting and interpreting data for test development. Utilizes standard equipment or may work with new machines. Participates in process modification as needed.

  4. Maintain cleanliness of work area.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school or GED.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES:

  • Is able to follow written and verbal instructions. Must be able to read, write legibly, understand and communicate effectively in English.

  • Experience with standard manual machine shop equipment is mandatory.

  • Experience with CNC machines is a plus.

  • Good organizational, work planning and documentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work on a fast-paced, deadline driven team.

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes

  • Competent at intermediate computer skills (email, Word processing)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Continuously (67%-100%) moves about between areas and tasks, standing/walking up to 9 hrs/day. Frequently (34%-66%) lifts up to 10 lbs and occasionally (0%-33%) lifts 11-49 lbs.

On occasion, overtime may be required to complete assigned tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Operates around moving equipment.

Reports directly to the Product Development Specialist
