Manpower Group Trade Relations Manager in Denver, Colorado

JOB Summary: The Manager of Trade Relations is responsible for recruiting, hiring and evaluating trades and vendors with the goal of keeping up with production demands. At the same time working with the Purchasing Team to insure labor and material costs are controlled. This person will build and maintain strong relationships with all trades and vendors. Additionally, the Manager of Trade Relations in conjunction with the VP Purchasing will have a direct line of communication with Corporate Purchasing on current national contracts and pricing.

Expand Subcontractor Production Capacity:

  • Recruit new Trades to meet divisional objectives.

  • Take responsibility for recruiting enough trades to yield a minimum 3 bids from each category.

  • Develop a program for qualifying and vetting new Trades candidates.

  • Develop Trade onboarding protocol, take an active role in the new vendor set-up process.

  • Participate with the Purchasing Team in analyzing Trade and vendor bids. 60%

Trade Partner Relations:

  • Proactively develop relationships with our current Trade base.

  • Supports Construction Staff by actively participating in Trade performance issues.

  • Identify areas where KB Home can improve to become more Trade and vendor friendly.

  • Take responsibility for updating and maintaining Scopes of Work and insure we have signed Scopes of Work for all active vendors. 30%

Communication & Reporting:

  • Manage the KB Home EPG (Energy Performance Guide) process.

  • Take ownership of managing and updating the vendor list by community.

  • Take ownership of managing a potential future Trade list.

  • Develop and maintain a tool that forecasts current and future trade workloads based on business plan.

  • Conduct annual Trade and Builder Surveys. 10%



  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required

  • Four Year College Degree preferred


  • Minimum 2 years of onsite residential construction experience preferred

  • 2 years purchasing experience in home building preferred

  • Demonstrate strong relationships with a full complement of Colorado residential trades and vendors.

  • Demonstrated leader within homebuilding industry

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Outgoing personality with a comfort level for cold calling

  • A willingness and ability to play a mediator role with the goal of finding wins for both sides

  • Must work well independently and take initiative in executing the above duties and responsibilities

  • Strong experience in delivering high quality customer service. JDP experience a plus!

  • Proven negotiation skills

  • Understands Colorado market and industry trends

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities including motivating teams, employee development, and being results oriented

  • Ability to connect with people, and develop and maintain professional relationships

  • Action oriented, with the drive to push to successful closure

  • Proven ability of being customer centric by seeking solutions from the customer's perspective

  • Strong verbal & written communication, with the ability to take complex concepts and communicate accurately and persuasively

  • Proven ability to lead and execute effective training sessions or conduct strong oral presentations

  • Strong ability to work within a team-setting, inclusive of other's ideas, and a willingness to cooperate

  • Makes quick and accurate decisions based heavily on facts, data and/or metrics

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. AS400 database experience a plus!

Work Requirements

  • Work 8-hour days with flexibility for additional work hours and days when necessary
