Manpower Group Manager, Quality Assurance in Minooka, Illinois

This position is the single point of contact for a large CPG food grade distribution network. This position will establish and maintain standards for storage and inventory control, food safety control, quality control and auditing requirements. Based out of our customer's food grade distribution center, this position is expected to be the "Subject Matter Expert" for standardizing and implementing inventory and food safety for the distribution network.


This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Establish, document and perform food safety inspections for the network according to government, 3rd party, and customer standards. Generate reports on inventory and quality statistics and Key Performance Indicators.

  • Build and maintain SOPs for inventory control and food safety standards for the distribution network. Create and maintain packaging instructions. Take lead in recommending updates to current and new packaging. Work with customer on packaging initiatives.

  • Standardize, track and perform inspections on incoming and stored customer product for conformance to good manufacturing practices (GMP), Ensure facilities are meeting customer standards and meeting 3rd party audit standards such as AIB and SQF.Communicate findings, issue corrective actions, establish and share best practices among the network.

  • Develop and manage quality hold inventory transaction audits with strict controls and accountabilities. Working directly with the local Inventory Control (IOS) teams to ensure 100% accuracy and control of Hold products. Documented internal audit programs to validate process controls and inventory accuracy.

  • Develop and promote teamwork and improve communication between all local teams, with the objective of improving standardization of practices and challenging the "how we always have done it" to identify opportunities for improvement projects.

  • Initiate and oversee the process to contain items suspected of non-conformance according to customer quality procedures following the direction of customer's Quality Department.

  • Manage and execute implementation of new customer processes, policies and systems.

  • Establish a timing for conference calls and webinars as needed to help facilitate and train others within the network and build a best in class team and culture of subject matter experts.

  • Oversee network wide training program

  • Oversee APL Logistics document control program, update programs to meet regulatory or customer requirements, and communicate/train on any program changes.

Key Results:

  • Apply the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model for operational efficiency to improve business process, increase proficiency and increase efficiency through waste elimination

  • Apply the 5S Lean methodology to sustain a safe, clean and orderly facility


  • Bachelor's Degree required. May substitute education combined with related experience.

  • A minimum of five (3) years' experience in warehousing or manufacturing with an emphasis on quality or inventory controls

  • Proficient in SAP and a WMS system such as Red Prairie

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite Applications, especially Excel and Access

  • Proficient in comprehending and interpreting instructions, reports, data and processes

  • Strong Organizational skills

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse work group

  • Strong ethical standards and ability to strictly maintain confidentiality of Company and Customer information

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact successfully with a diverse group of people

Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to travel to audit and train other distribution centers within the network as needed.

  • Spanish a plus
