Manpower Group Human Resources Generalist in Williamsport, Maryland

Are you a multitasker? Do you work well independently? An established, reputable manufacturing business in the Williamsport area is seeking an HR Generalist to serve as the point person for approximately 160 employees across 4 facilities.

This position requires an experienced professional able to manage administration, and regulation compliance for a busy family-owned organization. The right candidate will be a strong and objective communicator, comfortable with being the "go to" person for employee questions regarding pay, benefits and employment law. This Generalist must understand the importance of confidentiality in maintaining personal and sensitive information, and possess a working knowledge of employment policy, insurances and compensations.


  • Must be able to monitor employee and payroll laws for multiple states.

  • Recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, orientations.

  • Process employee changes (terminations, reporting changes, etc.).

  • Payroll processing; accruals, payments, taxes, SAP postings.

  • Process, verify and maintain documentation relating to HR activities such as staffing, training and performance evaluations.

  • Serve as HR contact for employees for compensation, payroll, insurance, immigration status, employment verification, worker's compensation, and various other personnel issues.

  • Advise management in areas of employment law, policies and regulations.

  • Assist with revisions to Policy and Procedure and/or work process development, maintain company handbooks.

  • Negotiate, manage and monitor company benefits.

  • Workers compensations management, Unemployment Management, FMLA, LOA, etc.

  • Monitor company incentive plans, maintain bonus and award programs.

  • Track birthdays; organize company parties and events and employee appreciation days.

  • General office management duties as needed.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations or related field (Will consider significant on the job experience in lieu of degree with confirmed references.)

  • 7+ years of Human Resources experience

  • Experience in a non-corporate, family owned business environment (strongly preferred)

  • A high level of organizational skills, good written and oral communication skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel

  • Good attendance record and a long-term job in your work history (no job hoppers!)

  • QuickBooks and SAP experience (preferred)

  • Willingness to travel to other locations approximately 4x/year

This position offers:
